Money Questions
Do I Need a Recruitment Agency?
What does a full-ride cover mean?
No. Your scholarship bares no relationship to your field of study. Remarkably, this is the number 1 question we are asked, and the most common misconception of the US university athletic scholarship system. As long as the university you choose has the degree (or major) you want, you are free to choose whatever degree you like, whether it be Business, Art, Pre-Law, Medicine, Psychology, Maths, just about anything you can think of.
What Sporting Level do I Need to be?
US University Athletics is divided into several divisions and conferences encompassing a large variety of playing standards.
What Grades Do I Need for the US?
Universities and Colleges in the US have lower entry standards than in Europe. Generally 4 or more GCSE’s (or European equivalents) are needed for entry. However you will also need to take the SAT for American equivalency.
When Should I Register with Play Atlantic?
As soon as you have decided you want to study and compete in the US.
Preferably the sooner the better as universities will be looking to fill up their roster a year in advance. You will want to give yourself several months in order to finalise a scholarship offer, apply for a visa, and arrange your travel.
What if I want to transfer schools during my time in America?
Once signing up with Play Atlantic you become a customer of ours for the duration of your academic career. This means that if you wish to transfer, we will not only advise you on what needs to be done in order to transfer, but also put your profile (amended to include your university career to date) back on our site and re-promote you to the universities you desire transferring to.
In addition to this, Play Atlantic will also assist with applications for work permits you will want after graduating.
What can I study in the States, and how long does is take?
All academic programs are available in the US, however a particular degree (major) may not be available at any given university. Unlike many countries, the US university system does not require you to pick your field of study (major) until after your second year of study. If you know what you want to study beforehand it is key to check that your degree is available at the university you are looking at. Most university websites will clearly state the degrees offered.
US degrees generally take 4 years to complete.
Do I Need a Recruitment Agency?
Yes. The chances of attaining a scholarship offer and saving thousands of pounds are increased exponentially as a result of our unrivaled network of university coaches. Equally, when applying for the SAT, a student visa, or choosing a university, it is critical that you have access to advice from experienced consultants.
Is the Price Fair?
Play Atlantic reviewed agencies from all over the world to make sure that we would not only be competitive in service, but also the most affordable on the market, allowing people from all backgrounds to have the opportunity to compete and study in the US.
What does a full-ride cover mean?
A full-ride (full scholarship) will include tuition, accommodation, food, and books (books not always included). A full-ride will not include travel to the university, such as flights, etc. Medical insurance is also not covered and should be taken out by all incoming international students.
