College football scholarships in the USA are extremely difficult to get as it is one of the most popular sports in the country. For the high school student-athletes lucky enough to receive one they can look forward to a world class education and an opportunity to develop both physically and mentally through out the four years.
The level of financial investment in college football is unparalleled compared to most professional sports around the world, so football players can enjoy the very best coaching, facilities, training and development possible.
Football scholarship opportunities vary considerably depending on each players athletic and academic ability, with the student-athletes that have the better ranking/results (nationally and internationally) and have maintained higher academic grades receiving the larger athletics scholarship offers from college coaches.
In the NCAA Division one Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs, there are 25 new full athletic scholarships every year per team to spread out amongst its squad, as long as the total does not exceed 85 scholarships in total. With amounts typically ranging from a full 100% to 25% in financial aid. In the NCAA Division two, NAIA and NJCAA these athletic scholarship amounts vary.
As well as the athletic scholarships that are available at colleges/universities if the student-athlete has good academic grades it may also be possible to receive an academic scholarship as well to help with the families financial commitment.
